Jem Marie M. Nario completed her Research Master in Spatial Sciences at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, where she focused on healthcare utilization and network structure among older adults in urban and rural settings. She is particularly interested in computational sociology, social network analysis, urban and rural dynamics, spatial inequalities in healthcare, and economic mobility. Her research encompasses social networks, mixed-methods analysis, and policy evaluation addressing social and spatial disparities in both developed and developing contexts.

As a researcher, Jem has worked in international and multicultural academic settings, including the University of Groningen, De La Salle University, and San Beda University. Her professional experience extends to sustainable development projects and livelihood policy research, employing advanced quantitative and network models to analyze economic and social phenomena. She has presented at leading conferences such as the International Network for Social Network Analysis Sunbelt Conference and the Philippine Economics Society and was selected as a finalist for the University of Groningen Fund GUF-100 Prize.
