Lasallians partner with Cahaya Surya Bakti to conduct Teacher Training Needs Analysis
De La Salle Philippines (DLSP) and De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila recently joined forces to conduct a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for teachers of Cahaya Surya Bakti (CSB) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. CSB is a Malaysian non-profit dedicated to supporting Rohingya refugees in the state.
The activity took place from April 21-24, 2024, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Present during the initiative were Mr. Andyo Abusmas, Program Manager of DLSP; Dr. Niño Jose C. Mateo, Assistant Dean for External Affairs and Lasallian Mission of DLSU Br. Andrew Gonzalez FSC College of Education; and Mr. Larry Illich N. Souribio, Program and Resource Development Coordinator of DLSU Center for Social Concern and Action.
Recognizing the importance of tailored training for educators working with refugee students, the collaborative effort aimed to understand the specific needs of CSB’s teachers.
The team visited two learning centers – one in Johor Bahru and another in Kota Tinggi – to gather data through the survey.
Based on the findings, different training programs will be developed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by CSB’s teachers, ultimately empowering them to better support their students’ educational journeys.
