Uniservitate Asia & Oceania Regional Hub Hosts Successful Regional Training & Learning Session on Service-Learning Institutionalization
On September 24, 2024, De La Salle University, as the Uniservitate Asia & Oceania Regional Hub, successfully partnered with Fu Jen Catholic University to host the Uniservitate Regional Training & Learning Session. The event brought together Catholic Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs) from across the region to exchange experiences, discuss challenges, and share strategies for integrating Service-Learning (SL) into their curricula and institutional frameworks.
A highlight of the event was a hybrid discussion led by Dr. Andrew Furco, titled “Assessing CHEIs’ Impact for Systemic Change through Service-Learning: Observations of Best Practices and Predictions for the Region.” Attendees participated actively in this session, which delved into SL pedagogy, assessment methods, and sustainability.
The session fostered collaboration by encouraging the sharing of best practices for institutionalizing SL. Attendees actively engaged in a hybrid discussion with the guest speaker, focusing on key areas such as SL pedagogy, assessment methods, and sustainability. The event underscored the commitment to strengthening regional partnerships and advancing social engagement initiatives.
Following the session, participants exchanged insights on their service-learning practices and outlined future action plans to build on the momentum of the Regional event.
Moving forward, the Uniservitate Asia & Oceania Regional Hub is committed to supporting CHEIs through capacity-building initiatives, professional development opportunities, and collaborative projects to ensure the long-term integration of SL in higher education. This event marks a significant milestone in promoting service-learning as a core component of student formation and social responsibility across the region.
