Lasallian Students Shine at Business Event Planning Competition in Singapore

A team of Lasallian students called Team Arrows recently achieved impressive results at the Business Event Planning Competition 2023 held in Singapore. The team, comprising Kent Harvey S. Iñgel, Addy, Sophie Marie Rendon, Ralph Stephen B. Saavedra, Danielle Alisson L. Tan, Madeline L. Tee, and John Laurence A. Robes was contacted by the president of the Junior Marketing Association (JMA) and competition organizer Judy to participate in the event.

Despite having just a two-weeks to work on the output as compared to the other teams who had months, the students’ strong work ethic and complementary skill sets enabled them to submit a compelling proposal. Danielle’s experience running JEMA events, Addy’s case competition expertise, Sophie’s creative flair, Kent’s background in JEMA creatives, and Ralph’s financial acumen proved a winning combination.

The competition, held in Singapore, required teams to plan an event spanning two seminars and a dinner party. The Lasallian team chose the Parkroyal Collection and focused their proposal on sustainability, innovation, and membership engagement. Inspiration came from places like the Van Gogh Museum to provide an immersive, memorable experience for guests.

The students’ hard work paid off with a gold award for their paper submission and second runner-up overall. Their presentation skills also earned them the title of best performing team. Beyond the accolades, the experience provided an opportunity to apply their JEMA-honed skills, bond as a team, and network with peers.

With their guiding motto of “shoot for the moon, even if you miss you’ll land among the stars”, the students’ stellar performance in Singapore demonstrates how Lasallians can make an impact beyond campus. Their practical knowledge and creative spirit are assets that will no doubt contribute to future success.
