GRADUATE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

Advanced Studies of the Gokongwei College of Engineering provides a comprehensive array of graduate-level degree programs

The Advanced Studies of the Gokongwei College of Engineering, De La Salle University, 4 main programs: 1) Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (BSMS) Straight program, 2) Master of Science (MS) program, 3) Master of Engineering (M. Eng.) program also known as the non-thesis program, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program.

The Master of Science program is a research-intensive degree designed for the professional advancement of engineers, particularly those pursuing careers in Research and Development (R&D) or academia. This program also provides comprehensive preparation for doctoral studies. The M.S. degree requires mastery of a specialized field through rigorous coursework and the completion of a thesis that demonstrates original thought and contributes substantively to the existing body of knowledge within the chosen area of specialization.

The Master of Engineering program is a practice-oriented degree program that emphasizes the application of theoretical frameworks and methodologies to address real-world challenges encountered in the engineering profession. This program necessitates in-depth knowledge of a specialized field, acquired through coursework and an industry internship or practicum project. The practicum project must showcase the practical application of engineering principles to concrete problems. Such projects may involve developing solutions to specific issues within an industry or company, or undertaking development initiatives that benefit the community, academia, or governmental and non-governmental organizations. This program is a non-thesis master’s level program.

The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program is structured to cultivate the student’s capacity for independent and supervised research, with a strong emphasis on generating novel contributions to knowledge. The culmination of this research is expected to be a dissertation that demonstrates originality and advances the understanding of a specific field of study. Furthermore, the Ph.D. program aims to produce R&D leaders capable of contributing to national development and offering technological solutions on a global scale.
