JEROME L. MONTEMAYOR , MSc

Jerome L. Montemayor is a faculty member of the Department of Biology in De La Salle University teaching environmental courses in the graduate program. Mr. Montemayor received his Master of Science in Environmental Studies and is a candidate for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Studies from Miriam College. Mr. Montemayor has extensive experience in environment and sustainable development program design and development, program management and implementation, social/community engagement, conservation finance, resource mobilization and fundraising, volunteer management, education and training, networking, linkaging and partnership-building, research, and teaching. Currently, Mr. Montemayor is the Country Coordinator for the Philippines of People for Peat/EU Sustainable Use of Peatland and Haze Mitigation in ASEAN (SUPA) Component 2. People for Peat. People for Peat aims to support the ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy through collective actions and enhanced cooperation that improves sustainable peatland management, thus mitigating the impacts of climate change, managing the risk of wildfires, and reducing transboundary regional haze. He recently led the organizing of the online capacity-building on ‘Peatland Fire Prevention and Management & Post-Fire Peatland Restoration’. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE), the first and largest grant-making organization for civil society environmental initiatives in the Philippines. In addition, he was elected as the Corporate Secretary of the FPE Board of Trustees and serves as the Chair of the Knowledge Management Committee. His recent initiative as a Trustee is the Youth for Biodiversity (Y4B) Program, wherein FPE supports the biodiversity conservation-related projects of youth and student organizations across the country
