EMELINA H. MANDIA, PhD

Dr. Emelina Mandia conducts botanical researches ranging from ethnobotany, plant ecology, taxonomy and morpho-anatomy. She is currently also involved in the investigation of the chemical constituents of Philippine flora. Her researches on the summit flora of Mt Halcon, Mindoro Island contributed new plant records for the Philippines and to the conservation of the said mountain. An adherent of biodiversity conservation, she was a founding member of the Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc (MBCFI) and served as its Executive Director from 2008-2010. Dr. Mandia took her BS Education from Divine Word College-Calapan, Oriental Mindoro (magna cum laude) and was recognized an outstanding alumna in 2012. She took her Master of Science in Biology from De La Salle University-Manila, where she was awarded an outstanding teacher in 2007. She finished her Doctor of Philosophy in Botany from the University of the Philippines at Los Banos, Laguna through the DOST-Engineering and Science Education Program (ESEP).
