SDRC Newest Member of the Dignified Pacific Initiative

The Social Development Research Center has accepted an invitation to join the Dignified Pacific Initiative (DPI), whose goal is to empower communities in the Pacific region to rearticulate the role and worth of their cultural and natural resources as contributions toward global prosperity through Gross National Generosity, or GNG.

This is a good fit, as it complements SDRC’s mandate to conduct research about, build capacities for, and promote public awareness and discussion of emerging social issues about quality of life, social development, and the nation’s growth.

As a new member, SDRC becomes part of DPI’s organic consortium of research institutions, together with those from the Kingdom of Tonga and Samoa. Its initial collaboration is a proposal submitted to a funding agency, that aims to determine the level of knowledge of individuals in communities regarding the three select Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) of chikungunya in Tonga, schistosomiasis in the Philippines, and filariasis in the Pacific Island nation of Samoa.

SDRC views its membership in the Dignified Pacific Initiative as an advancing step toward bridging Asia and the Pacific.
