Ang Naratibo at Diskurso ng Overseas Filipino Workers sa Kontemporanyong Pelikulang Pilipino / The Narrative and Discourse of Overseas Filipino Workers in Contemporary Filipino Films

Abstrak

Gamit ang semyolohiya ni Roland Barthes, layunin ng pag-aaral na ito na suriin ang naratibo at diskurso sa mga piling pelikulang tungkol sa Overseas Filipino Workers na pinrodyus at nagsilbing distributor ang Star Cinema, Viva Films, at GMA Picture Films mula 2016 hanggang 2019. Batay sa pag-aaral, may pagkakatulad ang naratibo ng mga pelikula sa paglalahad ng mga kuwento ng Overseas Filipino Workers. Samantala, binigyang-kahulugan din ng mananaliksik ang mga nangingibabaw na mito sa mga pelikula.

Using the concept of semiology by Roland Barthes, this paper aims to analyze the narrative and discourse in the selected films about the Overseas Filipino Workers that were produced and distributed by Star Cinema, Viva Films, and GMA Picture Films from 2016 to 2019. Based on the study, there are similarities in the narratives of the films representing the stories of the Overseas Filipino Workers. On the other hand, the researcher also depicts the myths that are dominant in the selected films.
