PADAYON 2021

P.S. Dream High, Graduates!

The grade 10 OBB scholars had their final synchronous session last June 26, 2021 for their culminating and send-off activity entitled, Padayon 2021. The program was arranged according to the five parts of a letter or liham including Pamuhatan, Panimula, Mensahe, Pahimakas, and Lagda which holds the significant lessons that OBB wants the scholars to take with them as they journey to senior high school and beyond.

Pamuhatan was the first part of the culminating activity and was presented through a podcast series hosted by the OBB Values Formators. It was released a few days prior to the live session as an asynchronous activity. The podcast series was divided into three parts (Unang Yugto, Ikalawang Yugto, and Ikatlong Yugto) and covered discussions about the experiences of the grade 10 scholars in the OBB program. It was a trip down memory lane as the Values Formators reminisced the meaningful moments and fruitful activities they had with the students and the insights they gained from their encounters with them.

The synchronous session, which was the major event of the culminating activity, covered the three parts of the program (Panimula, Mensahe, and Pahimakas). A total of 169 grade 10 OBB scholars participated virtually in the session through Zoom and YouTube. Special guests were also invited to participate in the program which were Mr. Bienvenido “Pet” Bautista, one of the founding fathers of OBB, as well as Bro. Gelo and Bro. Jojo, missionaries from Verbum Dei.

The session started with Panimula in which the Values Formators greeted the scholars with their send-off message that, as they go through their experiences in the future, may they be reminded to carry out the values of patience, understanding, humility, obedience, and nurture which forms the acronym PUHON (a Cebuano word that means “God-willing” ).

In the Mensahe segment of the program, Bro. Gelo and Bro. Jojo provided the scholars with spiritual guidance by sharing their testimonies. Bro. Jojo talked about the different roles of Jesus Christ in our lives, while Bro. Gelo narrated his journey on how his life changed because of his faith in God.

A recorded video of Mr. Bienvenido “Pet” Bautista was presented during the segment for Pahimakas or the last farewell. He talked about how goodness can be fostered by persistently doing one good act at a time and asked the scholars to start dreaming of a better life as part of their vision.

Before the session ended, some scholars presented their message for OBB as their Pahabol na Sulat in the Liham of the culminating activity. Gerjhon Minguito (Victorino Mapa HS), Rainiel Bautista (Ramon Magsaysay HS), Ryza Menale (Cayetano Arellano HS), and Ricablanca Barrosa (Manuel Araullo HS) shared their OBB experiences specifically on how the program has helped them and how they plan to live out the lessons they’ve gained from OBB.

The culminating activity ended with a Lagda or a signature from the scholars which was represented through the asynchronous activity that they were asked to do after the live session. As their lagda, they posted their favorite memories through the years (from grade 8-10) in OBB and indicated the way/s on how they will pay forward as they move forward.
