Introduction.
The Departments of Financial Management, Accountancy, Economics, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, and Mathematics and Statistics, under the leadership of the Provost, have crafted the country’s first multidisciplinary undergraduate program in Financial Engineering (BSFE). This innovative Bachelor of Science in Financial Engineering program integrates finance, mathematics, statistics, computer science, economics, and accountancy to meet the growing demand for financial engineers who can navigate complex and highly volatile financial markets. Educated with cutting-edge skills and competencies in financial engineering, the BSFE Lasallian graduates can thrive in rapidly evolving financial markets and provide essential leadership in a dynamic financial services sector. It is envisioned to be the first of its kind in the ASEAN and, perhaps, worldwide, bringing DLSU Manila to the forefront of creating innovative degree programs to address emerging needs in the global financial markets.
Overview of Program Learning Outcomes. Upon completion of the BSFE program (Class of 2030), graduates are expected to have gained mastery of multidisciplinary skills and competencies, allowing students a unique ability to leverage and deliver.
- Mathematics and Statistics: Apply advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to solve financial problems, model and analyze financial markets and instruments, and effectively communicate the results to the stakeholders in the financial
- Information Technology: Demonstrate an understanding of the principles and practices in data science and how its components interact by performing data analysis and data mining in practical financial applications. Understand the basics of AI, machine learning, and deep learning techniques and the application of these technologies in finance to recommend computing engines that can provide value to the industry.
- Industrial Engineering: Apply knowledge in modeling, simulations, and other operations research concepts to solve concrete problems in finance, risk management, and other related fields.
- Economics: Create short-form and long-form research, integrating economic theories with data science methodologies, that analyzes real-world issues and incorporates knowledge from other disciplines.
- Accountancy: Demonstrate advanced proficiency in accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and reporting standards, integrating these skills into quantitative models and algorithms for financial decision-making and risk management in complex financial environments.
- Financial Management: Design innovative derivative financial instruments and services and demonstrate their integration within financial solutions and strategies while analyzing their applicability through the lens of enterprise risk management to address emerging market needs and capitalize on opportunities in global financial services.

Although the program will be co-owned by the Departments of Mathematics and Statistics, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Economics, and Accountancy, the said program will be lodged in the Department of Financial Management.
