A Contemporary Theory on Learning and Teaching Mathematics: Implications for School Mathematics Curriculum

Abstract
This paper presents the conceptions of school mathematics learning and practices on instruction which mathematics educators, theorists, researchers and practitioners deem prevalent and will continue to prevail in the mathematics classrooms in the next millennium. The study cites research endeavors on Philippine mathematics education that deal primarily with the current theories on teaching and learning mathematics. It attempts to draw implications of the secondary mathematics curriculum of our country.
