SDRC Welcomes Dr. Ariane Borlongan
The Social Development Research Center (SDRC) core staff members and Dr. Zaldy Collado welcomed Dr. Ariane Macalinga Borlongan, Associate Professor of Sociolinguistics, Graduate School of Global Studies Founder and Head, Migration Linguistics Unit of Tokyo University of Foreign Studies last April 24, 2024 at the SDRC director’s office.
Dr. Borlongan’s research focuses on sociolinguistics, world Englishes, English linguistics, and historical linguistics. Through his extensive research, he has also conceptualized a framework for conducting migration linguistics, and proposed a linguistic theory of migration.
SDRC hopes to connect with Dr. Borlongan, especially given the rising demand for migration research. At the same time, SDRC also hopes to invite Dr. Borlongan as a visiting professor in the future, offering collaborations in research with fellows, faculty members, and students.
