The Water and Wastewater Support for Public Health & Resilience Engineering (WaW SPHeRe) is a research cluster that upholds the integration of comprehensive and interdisciplinary research techniques to address the emerging challenges on water and wastewater in both urban and rural areas.
The mission of WaW SPHeRe is to promote the sustainable management of water and wastewater and to support public health and community resilience through research collaborations with international and national sectors, including government and non-government organizations, academic institutions, industries, household communities, and research funding agencies.
The aim of WaW SPHeRe is to conduct high-value research projects that are environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable and feasible. WaW SPHeRe particularly emphasizes the development of water and wastewater management solutions in urban and rural communities by aggregating interdisciplinary approaches in natural science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business and economics including behavioral and social sciences.
The research interests of the WaW SPHeRe include the following topics: water supply, quality, and distribution systems; proper sanitation system; integrated water resource management system; nutrient recovery and reuse; impacts of climate change on water and wastewater systems; multi-criteria decision support tools for planning, analysis, and problem solving for water and sanitation systems.
WaW SPHeRe also aims to benefit the scientific community and contribute to the body of knowledge through the publication of Scopus Index-cited journals and conference proceedings.
WaW SPHeRe fosters various researchers from different departments of De La Salle University, Manila, which comprises of faculty members, undergraduate, and graduate students, and other research assistants. WaW SPHeRe also supports undergraduate and graduate students who want to pursue a research path in water and wastewater management.
