Dr. Marites M. Tiongco is currently a Full Professor and Dean of the DLSU School of Economics. Dr. Tiongco received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the University of the Philippines-Los Baños.  Her research work focuses on human capital development including gender issues, poverty and inequality, job mismatch and labor market outcomes, and on the economics of agricultural development with emphasis on critical natural resources and policy issues as they affect food security, food and water safety along the value chain, market access of smallholder crop and livestock producers, agricultural health and productivity, climate change mitigation, adaptation, and resilience, and environmental sustainability. At SDRC she currently heads the studies “Further Analysis of 2018 National Migration Survey (NMS) on Trends and Patterns of Migration” and “Behavioral Change Communication Intervention for Premature and Small Newborn Care: Development of Prematurity Communication Strategy for the PhilHealth Z-Benefit Package for Premature and Small Newborns.” She has also been project director of “Effect of Devolution on Local Health Expenditure and Delivery of Health Services,” “A Study on the Financing of LGU-Owned Hospitals,” and “Qualitative Process Evaluation of the Barangay First 1000 Days (BF1KD) and Other Right Start Component Interventions: Philippines.”
