Dr. Maria Caridad H. Tarroja is an associate professor teaching with the Department of Psychology of the DLSU College of Liberal Arts and former SDRC director. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Ateneo de Manila University. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, and a certified Assessment and Clinical Psychologist of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP), which awarded her as Outstanding Psychologist in 2016. Her research interests are in child and family issues psychological assessment, and clinical psychology topics. She is currently project director for the SDRC study “Development and Pilot Testing of Remote Counseling Protocols for OSAEC Victims/Survivors” and was recently co-investigator for the studies “How Filipino Youth Identify and Act on Social Media Bullying and Harassment” and “Social and Behavioral Change Communication Strategies to Improve Sexual and Reproductive Health and Family Planning Outcomes among Out-of-School Adolescents and Youth in the Philippines.” Other SDRC projects she has headed are the “National Study on Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children in the Philippines,” “Pilot Testing of Be He@lthy Be Mobile Project,” “Understanding Lack of Interest Among Out-of-School Youth in Selected Schools in Manila and Laguna,” “Development and Adaptation of Text Messages for mCessation Program,” “Comprehensive Review of the Status of Mental Health Promotion in the Western Pacific Region,” “Geographical and Programmatic Mapping of MSM in Quezon City, Philippines,” “Baseline Data Gathering for Inclusive ECCD and Protection Project in Taguig, Pateros, and Parañaque,” and “World Health Organization Disability Assessment Survey (WHODAS) in Yolanda-Affected Areas in the Philippines.” She has also been on the research teams for the studies “Capacity Building in Asia for Resilience EducaTion (CABARET),” “How the DOH and Other Interventions Close the Gap in Health Outcome Disparities among LGUs,” andAssessment of the Philippines Child and Family Welfare System.”
