Dr. Hazel T. Biana is a Professor at the Department of Philosophy of De La Salle University, Manila. She headed the SDRC study “Reclaiming Filipino Indigenous Cultures through Teaching and Learning”. She is also an active member of the Global Feminist Artificial Intelligence Research (f<A+I>r) Network. In 2024, with her team in SDRC, she received a grant from the International Development Research Centre, Ottawa, Canada, to pilot test SafeHer: A Women Mobility and Empowerment App with the hope of curbing transit violence against women through artificial intelligence. Her research interests are diverse and interdisciplinary, with topics on feminist philosophy, artificial intelligence, and cultural criticism. Dr. Biana was the former Vice President of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines.
