Dr. Melvin A. Jabar is Director of the Social Development Research Center and a full professor of the Department of Behavioral Sciences of the DLSU College of Liberal Arts. He obtained his Ph. D. in Asia Pacific Studies at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, and his Master of Health Social Science from DLSU. His research interests are in intercultural marriages, educational sociology, health social science, evidence-based policy intervention, and parental involvement. He currently heads the SDRC study “Documentation and Development of Manual of Operations (MoP) for the Registry of Barangay Inhabitants and Migrants (RBIM)” and is co-investigator in the study “Ethical Technology Assessment (eTA) of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) among GEN Z Population in the Pacific Region: The Case of the Philippines, Thailand, and Japan.”  He earlier headed the studies “Women in Digital Age: Perceptions, Interests and Brand Preferences,” “Financial Literacy among Public Elementary and High School Teachers,” “Health Status, Health Seeking Behavior, Access to Insurance among OFWs,” and “Formative Research for Behavioral Modification Intervention.” He has also been co-investigator for the studies “Reclaiming Filipino Indigenous Cultures through Teaching and Learning,” “Baseline and Impact Assessment of Health Literacy Project in Region VI,” “Hospital Financing among Local Government Units,” “Effect of Devolution on Local Health Expenditure,” and “From the Margins to the Mainstream of Society: Transforming the Lives of Workers with Exceptionality, their Co-workers, Business, Corporate Practices, Policies and the Workplace.
