Dr. Antonio P. Contreras is a full professor of the Political Science Department and a former Dean of the College of Liberal Arts of De La Salle University. He is currently the University Faculty Association President. He obtained his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Hawaii, and also holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of the Philippines-Los Baños. He served as Visiting Fellow at Mahidol University and as a Fulbright Senior Visiting Fellow at the University of Hawaii-Manoa. His research interests include political theory, environmental politics, and the politics of everyday life. His research projects mostly revolve around the environment, particularly on forestry, water, and upland agriculture. Dr. Contreras has led the SDRC projects “Linking Knowledge to Policy in Transboundary Water Governance: A Focus on Research-Based Knowledge and the Policy Process,” “Political Economy of the Use of Knowledge and Research Evidence in Urban Resilience Interventions in the Philippines,” and “Adapting to Climate Change in Peri-Urban Southeast Asia.”
