Dr. Carmelita I. Quebengco is Chancellor Emeritus of De La Salle University. She obtained her Doctor of Education major in Educational Management from DLSU and her Master of Education major in Educational Administration from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Her areas of specialization are in educational management and administration, and program conceptualization and development. She has been Director of the DLSU University Research Office, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Founding Dean of the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, Academic Vice-President, the first woman Executive Vice- President/Chancellor of the University, and its first lay and woman President. At SDRC, her research on Philippine indigenous education gave rise to the establishment in September 1984 of the Pundasyon Hanunuo Mangyan School in the uplands of Southern Mindoro, the focus of the Center’s and the University’s longest existing project for the poorest of the poor.  In line with this, she has headed the SDRC studies “Documentation of the Pundasyon Hanunuo Mangyan School Experience”, “Towards a Process Model on Curricular Innovation for Philippine Elementary Schools Servicing Cultural Communities and a Center for Education of Indigenous Filipinos,” “Education for Cultural Minorities in the Philippines,” “Pundasyon Hanunuo Mangyan (PHM) School Project (Curriculum Development),” “Adult Education for Mangyan Community,” and “Mangyan Appropriate School: A Community Development Experiment.”
