About us

The Social Development Research Center (SDRC) is an academic research institution of De La Salle University-Manila, established in 1979. It is committed to advancing learning through high-quality research and training that informs policy, empowers communities, and addresses pressing social issues. SDRC serves as a hub for generating transformative knowledge and promoting equitable, inclusive, and sustainable development.

With a mandate to pursue research responsive to society’s changing needs, SDRC also engages in advocacy, capacity building, and collaboration with institutions across the Philippines and globally.

As an independent academic research body, SDRC is widely trusted by national and international funding agencies and government organizations for its integrity, credibility, and impartiality. It has been commissioned to undertake mission-driven research in key areas that cut across the following thematic research clusters:

Since its founding, SDRC has completed over 300 research studies that have helped shape social policies and interventions, particularly for underserved populations. The Center has supported the creation of schools, income-generating initiatives, community organizing efforts, and improved service delivery in areas such as health, governance, and social welfare.

By strengthening stakeholder participation and supporting the capabilities of service providers and communities, SDRC continues to contribute meaningfully to inclusive growth and development.
