Publications Cluster Begins Work on Virtual Corner in Learning Commons

Reflection on a life begins at 45.

This is the sentiment at SDRC, as it embarks on an archival and preservation project to document and celebrate the history that has unfolded since being established at De La Salle University in 1979.

The task, being undertaken by the Research Dissemination and Publications Unit, began with an exploratory meeting on July 16 via Zoom, during which Publications Coordinator Joanna Cayton-Velante led a discussion with DLSU Libraries Director Marian Eclevia and Archivist Christine Abrigo on the possibility of setting up an SDRC space to exhibit the Center’s publications, memorabilia and other pertinent material.

The space, which will take the form of a virtual corner, will involve the digitization of existing material in the Library Archives, and the curating of reports, publications and items of note for inclusion in the collection. The team visited Ms. Abrigo on August 7 to inspect boxes in the Archives where the Center’s early documents are deposited, and to determine what can be further added to the collection. They were also given a demonstration of the scanners used at the Library in digitizing its holdings.

It is hoped that in the future, a detailed version of the Center’s history as the University’s longest running research hub can likewise be recorded and published to compliment the forthcoming SDRC corner.
