The President is the chief executive officer. He promotes the ideals of the Catholic and Lasallian character of the institution. He provides general direction over the institution’s affairs as it performs its three-fold function of teaching, research, and social engagement. He provides leadership in identifying the strategic directions during his term of office and communicates these to the key decision-makers and stakeholders of the University.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following are the principal duties and responsibilities of the President:

  1. Assumes leadership in the actualization of the core values of faith, zeal for service and communion in mission and in advancing the Lasallian mission in the university;
  2. Provides a clear vision of the role of Lasallian education and research in societal transformation in both the local and global perspective;
  3. Works together and by association with all internal and external stakeholders to achieve the vision;
  4. Appoints, with the approval of the Board of Trustees, top administrators of the University down to the directors and chairs, following University search and consultation protocol;
  5. Identifies and ensures that the general directions of the academic and administrative affairs of the University are in keeping with the University’s vision-mission;
  6. Plans for the budgetary needs of the University  in  coordination with the Provost, Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration and the Vice President for Finance, and recommends the same to the Board of Trustees;
  7. Ensures the financial stability and growth of the University and seeks out new sources of revenues for its programs and services;
  8. Presides over the commencement exercises and signs all diplomas and certificates of all major institutional awards;
  9. Affirms or exercises veto power on any action or decision of any  committee  or  council based on his judgment;
  10. Represents the University in major local and international conferences and organizations;
  11. Prepares, in coordination with top management, the annual report of the University embracing the totality of its activities and undertakings during the past academic year and presents this to the Board of Trustees for approval;
  12. As mandated by the Board of Trustees, the President is expected to:
  • to exercise such powers and authorities and to perform such duties and responsibilities as are approved in the corporate charter of the University and are appurtenant to the position of the President and Chief Executive Officer of the University;
  • to sign, execute and deliver all necessary documents, contracts, and instruments, which may be necessary, or appropriate in order to carry out the duties, functions and powers of chief executive officer of the corporation;
  • to do and perform all duties, powers and authorities incident to the Office of the President and Chief Executive Officer and such other duties and power as from time to time may be assigned to him by the Board of Trustees.
