LSDC-Street secures second runner-up finish in UAAP S88 Streetdance Competition

La Salle Dance Company — Street (LSDC-Street) has once again moved the crowd with a love-centered routine, clinching second third place in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 Streetdance Competition held earlier today at the Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo) Blue Eagle Gym.

LSDC-Street garnered 90.33 points, finishing behind University of Santo Tomas (UST) Prime with 92.17 points. Moreover, the University of the Philippines (UP) Street Dance Club was once again hailed as the champions for this year’s streetdance competition, receiving 93.33 points.

UP Street Dance Club began the competition with their Filipino superhero-inspired performance, featuring Captain Barbell, Lastik Man, and Darna. The University of the East (UE) East Force Dance Company followed with a barista-themed routine, wearing red aprons and showcasing a piece centered on locking and waacking. Next to perform was the Adamson University Dance Company-Street with their cowboy-inspired number.

The LSDC-Street was the fourth team to take the stage, followed by the Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo) Blue Eagles, who performed in bright, colorful tuxedos to Ed Sheeran’s song, Azizam. The sixth performers were the National University (NU) Dance Company with their chef-themed dance piece.

After the NU Bulldogs, the Far Eastern University (FEU) Street Alliance took the stage with their post-apocalyptic dance performance. Additionally, they also performed to multiple upbeat songs, including Katseye’s “Gnarly.” UST Prime concluded the competition with a performance integrating Chinese elements, such as the dragon dance.

Despite being the fourth team to take the dance floor, LSDC-Street proved that order did not matter as they elevated the competition more. The university’s streetdance team presented a narrative-driven piece depicting the three stages of being in love: puppy love, dating, and marriage. The first part of their dance portrayed two young lovers, expressing their love for each other on a park bench. The second part focused on the marriage proposal, where LSDC-Street utilized a heart-shaped arc. The performance concluded with the team’s portrayal of marriage, featuring one of its most iconic acts — the bride walking down the aisle.

In addition to telling a love story, the team prioritized technique, executing clean yet sharp movements throughout the routine. They were also able to connect with the audience through performing a piece to Araw-Araw by Ben&Ben. After securing third place last season, LSDC-Street backed up their performance and once again captured the hearts of the crowd.
