March 25, 2026The De La Salle University – Jesse M. Robredo Institute of Governance met with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) to discuss possible areas of collaboration, specifically on projects focusing on women, peace, and security (WPS).
Director J. Anthony Peña provided a rundown on how OPAPRU implements one of its priority programs, the PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) Program. For her part, WPS Office representative Ekaterina Ocampo presented a briefer about WPS and their aim to institutionalize its multi-sectoral and localized implementation.
The meeting raised the possible role of higher education institutions, especially local and state universities and colleges in localizing OPAPRU’s initiatives and programs.
Also present in the meeting were Jonah Sergio and Atty. Chris Antalan from OPAPRU; Dr. Ma. Carmen Ablan Lagman, unit head of the DLSU Practical Genomics Laboratory and faculty member of the Department of Biology; and representatives from DLSU-JRIG, including Director Dr. Francisco Magno, Program Manager John Benedict Felices, Senior Policy and Governance Research Specialist Ian Jayson Hecita, and Visiting Fellow Prof. Eddie Nuque. Joining them were Program and Research Coordinator John Arzil Manabat and Program and Research Associate Danela Dagdag.
This collaboration with OPAPRU is part of DLSU’s mission in promoting gender equality, contributing to peaceful, inclusive, and just societies, and strengthening external partnerships across the private and public divide.
