DLSU marks another milestone with the groundbreaking of the Enrique K. Razon Jr. Hall

Key administrators of De La Salle University and Dr. Enrique K. Razon Jr. (Doctor of Science in Logistics, Honoris Causa, 2019) led the groundbreaking ceremony of the Enrique K. Razon Jr. Hall on August 8, at the DLSU Laguna campus.

The Enrique K. Razon Jr. (EKR) Hall will be the new state-of-the-art facility that will house the Enrique K. Razon Jr. Logistics Institute (ERLI).  ERLI was established in June 2018 and offers research and training programs in corporate supply chain and logistics.

The EKR Hall will have a flexible and adaptable learning environment to meet the needs of the students, faculty, and researchers.  Aside from ERLI, the EKR Hall will house learning spaces for executive offices, research, modern learning centers, and breakout rooms.  It will also feature the first bi-level digital learning commons to include a 24/7 section for students and a makerspace equipped with the latest technology.

DLSU President Br. Bernard S. Oca FSC mentioned the developments of ERLI that have redefined the logistics landscape.  In his message, he shared “ … today, we will lay the foundation where continuous learning and logistics operations will be revolutionized, efficiencies will be maximized, and opportunities will abound.” He also expressed his sincerest appreciation to Dr. Razon for his unwavering support, trust, and commitment to the Lasallian community.

Mr. Razon is the Chairman and CEO of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. His philanthropic work with DLSU started in February 2003 with his donation to the university’s sports development program.  The Enrique M. Razon Sports Center on Manila campus was his first gift to the university, named after his father who was an alumnus and athlete of La Salle.  His company, ICTSI, is also one of the major team sponsors of the Green Archers basketball team.

Mr. Razon expressed his appreciation to the University for having an impressive foresight for the skills needed for the technologies of the future, especially with the massive supply chain disruption due to the global pandemic.  He added:  “La Salle is again at the forefront of innovation in higher education.  This groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent home of the logistics institute will cement its place as a major contributor to the economic development of the country.”
