History

In 1968, De La Salle College was granted a unanimous accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Association of School, Colleges and Universities.

The survey team report mentioned that the college deserves a high rating in the area of instruction, an observation that summarizes the history of 60 years of educational excellence and performance of De La Salle College. The College has produced and still produces many of the prominent and successful leaders in government, business and industry.

Every year, the College was faced with the problem of more applicants for enrollment, but the expansion for physical facilities and faculty development has not kept pace with the rapid expansion in view of the financial problems involved.

During the latter part of 1968, realizing its role in the development of the Philippines, the College re-appraised and restated its educational policies in terms of its immediate goals in years to come and embodied it in a development program. Specifically, the program is committed to produce better and more students to continue the training and development of the faculty and the maximum utilization of the present school complex and its improvement and expansion. The program needed extensive financial support for implementations. Hence, to increase participation of the Alumni, Business Industry and friends of the De La Salle College in its Development Program, the DE LA SALLE COLLEGE SCIENCE FOUNDATION, INC. was founded under the provisions of the Science Act (Rep. Act 2067) and registered with the National Science Development Board.

As an initial project, the foundation immediately embarked on a campaign to solicit support for a student aid program. This elicited an impressive response from a number of well-established firms, mostly by way of permanent scholarships. The Student Aid Program consists of four (4) plans. Donations were accepted for; The Student Aid General Fund, Scholarship Fund, Grant-Aid and Student Loan Fund.

The College which became a University in 1975, is a member of prestigious international educational organizations, such as the International Association of Universities, the International Federation of Catholic Universities, and others. The Foundation’s name reflected the changed in its growth reflecting the path of the Philippine economy. Since then, the scope of the Foundation has widened by giving grants to faculty members in their pursuit of academic/research advancement.
