SafeHer App Pilot Test Held in Barangay Santolan, Pasig City

Pasig City’s Barangay Santolan, led by Captain Jose Gabriel Bayan, hosted the pilot program launch for the SafeHer App on June 24, 2024. This app, developed by a team from the DLSU Social Development Research Center led by Dr. Hazel Biana alongside Dr. Homer Yabut, Dr. Melvin Jabar, Dr. Rosallia Domingo, and Mr. Kevin Lazarito, aims to empower women and enhance their safety while in transit.

The day began with an orientation session led by Dr. Yabut, Dr. Domingo, and Mr. Lazarito, with Ms. Salie Siao guiding the discussion. This session introduced the SafeHer App and empowered participants by engaging them with its essential features and functions. This equipped them with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective participation in the afternoon’s simulation. The preparatory session ensured a seamless user experience during the simulation, which is crucial for integrating the SafeHer App into Brgy. Santolan’s community safety initiatives.

In the afternoon, participants engaged in a hands-on simulation exercise, effectively testing the practical application of the SafeHer App. The exercise simulated various safety scenarios, providing participants with firsthand experience of how the app contributes to community safety and emergency response.

Following the simulation, a comprehensive wrap-up session allowed participants to share their feedback and insights from using the app. Testimonial interviews were also conducted to capture detailed accounts of their experiences and observations.Throughout the day, the presence of barangay officials, including Sec. Lei Mitchen Sta. Maria, Brgy. Councilor Jeff Lubao, and Brgy. Councilor Dale Abudagie was vital in supporting and facilitating the pilot testing process. The day concluded with a dedicated meeting to refine logistical details for the upcoming Focus Group Discussion on July 1, 2024. Discussions included finalizing the Standard Operating Procedure for future simulations and organizing participant groups.

The successful pilot test of the SafeHer App was made possible through Brgy. Santolan’s dedication to community safety. The SafeHer team is incredibly grateful for their invaluable partnership.
