Confining one's self in the learnings found in the University creates a superficial view of the real world. We must realize that a bigger and more complicated world exists outside La Salle, awaiting the help of willing La Sallians.
We need not think big nor do we have to think far. We neither have to raise millions to feed our hungry brothers and sisters only to prove our concern for society. Social concern begins from within us and from where we are and what we have.
Social concern is not limited as well in making other people's lives more bearable.
It also involves discovering more of ourselves and our capabilities as we share what little we can give of our gifts. It further rests in the realization that the smallest efforts we exert will eventually bear bigger and better fruits.
The Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) is the social development arm
of the De La Salle University (DLSU). Established in the school year 1983-1984,
it is involved in social development work both in urban and rural poor communities.
