Lithophyllon levistei

Nemenzo, 1971

Corallum a shallow, asymmetrical cup, its edge irregularly cut into lobes; thin, only 1 mm at edge, around 5 mm near center. Pedical short, 12 mm wide, 5 mm high, centrally attached. Longest diameter of cup 9.5 cm.

Primary corallite relatively small, 10 x 4 mm across, 4 mm deep. Secondary corallites arrange in sinuous circle around mother (primary) corallite but younger ones beyond follow no definite pattern. Large secondary corallite 3 x 1.5 mm diameter. Wall absent.

Septocostae radiating from mother corallite, interrupted by presence of secondary corallites; wide and narrow alternating. Teeth on wider septocostae triangular, fine; those on lower septocostae coarser, irregular; surfaces granulous.

Costae very fine, distinct towards edge of corallum but indistinct towards medial region. At edge, primary costae spinous while intervening ones very fine granulous.

Columella in both primary and secondary corallites consisting of twisted blunt papillae produced from septa.
