Anacropora puertogalerae

Nemenzo, 1964

Corallum consisting of closely matted stems and branches, mostly growing parallel to each other and anastomosing irregularly. Stems very irregular in diameter, usually 4-5 mm across, wider at points of coalescence. Branches coalescent, not very different from stem in diameter, very slightly tapering, up to 7.5 cm long. Terminal branchlets tapering, up to 15 mm high, their terminal portion usually curved, tips acute. Spinous processes all over but not very abundant; merely conical swellings on stems, becoming more pronounced on branches, where they may reach 4 mm high.

Corallites conspicuous, many on exposed areas; rim markedly elevated. Calice reaching 0.5 mm diameter or more. Primaries regularly 6, reaching half radius circle, very conspicuous. Secondaries absent in most calices, 1 or 2 in some but merely low spines between primaries. Loculi wide, petaloid.

Intercalicinal areas dense; surface velvety, crowded with low spines with tips slightly fimbriated; here and there pits seen among spines.
