Corallum heavy, stems and branches almost horizontal, bearing numerous branchlets with obtuse apices, ranging in length from less than a cm to 6 cm, the tall ones also bearing shorter twigs. One stem 3 cm across. A branch: 20 cm long, 2.7 cm diameter at base 2.5 cm at middle; 0.7 cm just below apical corallite. A nonproliferous branchlet 3.7 cm high has these diameters: base 11 mm, middle 8 mm, just below apical corallite 5 mm; gradually tapering. Surface all over very rough because of projecting rosettes and radials of various heights, those on stems and branches although lower are still protuberant unequally. Lower surface with very few twigs in proximal portion, corallites verruciform.


Axial corallite 3-4 mm across, conical, slightly projecting; calice only slightly over 1 mm across; wall thick, edge rounded, prominently costulate, relatively compact. Septa in 2 complete cycles (some big corallites have few tertiaries), the primaries narrow but distinct, short of half radius points, directive hardly distinguishable; secondaries about half as wide as primaries.


Radials on stem and branches tubular, ranging in diameter from 1.3-2.5 mm, height variable, up to 3 mm, all projecting above surface. Those on branchlets and younger portion of branches are mostly higher, ascending slightly, tubular; wall moderately thick, upper wall of young corallites usually thinner and shorter than lower wall so calice becomes oblique. Tall proliferous corallite stand prominently here and there. Wall of radials costulate- echinulate; the costae not continued into intercalicinal areas. Primaries not as well developed as those in axial corallite, except directives (inner or upper directive often more prominent than lower or outer). Secondaries slightly developed, occasionally present, may be represented by rows of spines.


Intercalicinal areas echinulate, reticulate; threads wider than meshes especially on older region of corallum.
