Professor Seon-Young Lee

Seon-Young Lee, Ph.D. is Professor of the Department of Education and Associate Dean of Planning and International Affairs of the College of Education at Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea. Previously, she was a faculty member at Yonsei University’s education department, a research assistant professor of the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University, and a postdoctoral researcher at Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development. She is currently an associate editor of Gifted Child Quarterly, a flagship journal in the field of gifted education, and editors of the Journal of Creativity Education, and Asian Journal of Education. Seon-Young has conducted 100+ quantitative and qualitative studies involving gifted students with foci on their academic and creative talent development and specialized programs for talented students. Her research interests also encompass creativity, creative education, and psychosocial and leadership development of gifted and creative population. She received the Gifted Child Quarterly Paper of the Year Award for 2011 and was a keynote speaker at the 22nd Biennial World Council for Gifted and Talented Children held in Sydney, Australia in 2017. Seon-Young has been actively advocating students’ talent dissemination as well as talent development through effective educational programming. She and her research team developed a global talent identification measure (i+3C) that consists of the subscales of intelligence, creativity, character, and communication skills.
