The Molecular Biology Laboratory is an upcoming full-service facility offered by the Central Instrumentation Facility under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation. Conveniently located at the DLSU Laguna Campus in Biñan, Laguna, the laboratory is equipped with advanced instrumentation, including the Rotor-Gene Q MDx 5plex HRM and the Bio-Rad T100 Thermal Cycler, and is soon to expand.
Preparing to officially launch its services soon, the facility is gearing up to offer a comprehensive suite of molecular services, including Nucleic Acid Extraction, Conventional PCR, Real-Time qPCR, Reverse Transcription PCR (RT-PCR), and Gel Electrophoresis. These services will soon be available to DLSU researchers and to external clients from the academe, government, and industry sectors.
Beyond analytical services, the facility is dedicated to fostering technical expertise; interested users will be welcome to apply to operate the molecular biology equipment after receiving rigorous training from Laboratory personnel.

Rotor-Gene Q MDx 5plex HRM: The Rotor-Gene Q MDx 5plex HRM is a high-performance real-time PCR cycler and High-Resolution Melt (HRM) analyzer designed for precise molecular diagnostics.
Key Features
Rotary Design: Uses a centrifugal “air-bridge” system to ensure extreme thermal and optical uniformity across all samples, eliminating the “edge effects” found in traditional block-based cyclers.
5-Channel Multiplexing: Equipped with Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Crimson channels to detect multiple targets in a single reaction.
HRM Analysis: Includes a dedicated high-resolution channel for sensitive applications like SNP genotyping and mutation scanning.

Bio-Rad T100 Thermal Cycler: is a compact, reliable 96-well thermal cycler designed for routine PCR. It is a workhorse known for its user-friendly interface and consistent performance.
Key Features
Thermal Gradient Technology: Features a programmable gradient that allows you to test up to 8 different temperatures simultaneously across the block. This is ideal for optimizing primer annealing temperatures in a single run.
96-Well Format: Compatible with standard 0.2 mL tubes, tube strips, and full 96-well PCR plates.
