The 7th Young Economists’ Convention (YEC)
The 7th Young Economists’ Convention (YEC) is the premier institution that provides a stimulating venue for young economists in enriching their economic understanding and leadership potentials.
The Young Economists’ Convention has been successfully held as a national event for five consecutive years since 2001, aimed at tackling essential issues to fit the needs of the times. Previous themes include “Labor Management Adjustments To Globalization And China’s Entry To the World Trade Organization” (2nd YEC), “The Economics of Political and Constitutional Change” (3rd YEC), “Philippine Participation in the International Economic Scene” (4th YEC) and
“The Philippines: Towards an export Powerhouse” (5th YEC).
This year’s theme is Employment and Social Dimensions of Globalization.
In line with this, the 6th YEC will be having its first out of a series of four nationwide miniconventions in DLSU-Manila (Yuchengco Building, Y507-509) on July 29, 2006 (Saturday). The Manila miniconvention shall discuss the sub-topic of Investing in Workers and its Impact on Productivity and Competitiveness.

The Young Economists Convention is a product of the collective efforts of the De La Salle University Angelo King Institute for Economic and Business Studies (DLSU-AKIEBS), U.S. Agency for International Development-PACT, the Anthony Aguirre Memorial Foundation and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, in cooperation with the Junior Philippine Economics Society (JPES) and the De La Salle University-Manila Economics Organization (DLSU-EconOrg).
