8th Science and Technology Congress 2006 (Archived)
“Ethics in Science and Technology”
March 8, 2006
De La Salle University–Manila
2401 Taft Avenue, Manila, Philippines
Background and Rationale
Ethical considerations underpin many of the major global issues facing the international community today – climate change, avian influenza and intellectual property rights, to name a few. Technological innovations have progressed at such a rapid pace that public debate on ethical issues has had trouble keeping up.
The theme of this year’s Science and Technology Congress of De La Salle University is “Ethics in Science and Technology”. Selected papers on current ethical issues in research and development will be the highlights of the congress. It is also a venue for disseminating the findings of scientists, faculty members and students from academic and research institutions in Metro Manila. Spearheaded by the four colleges of De La Salle University-Manila, the Science and Technology Congress aims to promote the exchange of information, knowledge and expertise that contribute towards national growth.
