Abstract:
-As mobile video communication is becoming more popular, it is important to know how this new technology works. The aim of this research is to give users an alternative way of learning the subject with the use of a Computer-Aided-Instruction (CAI). The CAI will help facilitate a better understanding of the subject through interactivity, simulation, animation, and sound. This will stimulate the learning of the users and help in keeping the users interested on the subject, as well.A web-based Computer-Aided Instruction about the Fundamentals of Mobile Video Communications was proposed using Moodle. The contents of the topic were focused on five important topics: Basic of Multimedia Communications, Evolution of Mobile Networks, Multimedia Coding Application, Circuit Switched Networks for Video Telephony, and Mobile Packet Networks for Video Telephony. There are four end-of- chapter quizzes composed of thirty items per quiz and four long quizzes composed of 50 items per quiz to help asses what the students have learned after each chapter. Pages were integrations of the Moodle interface, and pages made from Macromedia Flash 8.
