Abstract:
-The Smart-Card-Based Prescription system is created to provide a centralized and real-time prescription monitoring system that can help mitigate prescription drug abuse and aid prescription issuance and prescription transaction monitoring. The system is composed of an online database and four subsystems: register, hospital, pharmacy, and patient subsystem. Each subsystem will have access to the online database, each with a specific access area and functions. This system will require all doctors, pharmacist and patients who are involved with prescription drugs to be recorded in the system, from prescription issuance to prescription procurement. In addition, all prescription transactions are required to be recorded in this system. This prescription system will replace the traditional prescription system which is paper-based by using a digital prescription system that will use smartcards and fingerprint module to authenticate prescriptions and verify patient identity.
