AIST-PhotoIO-OIL representatives visit DLSU
Professor Eiichi Tamiya, Director of the Advanced Photonics and Biosensing Open Innovation Laboratory (PhotoBIO-OIL) of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan, visited DLSU on March 3-4, 2023. Along with him were Dr. Hidenori Nagai (Deputy Director), Dr. Satoshi Fujita (Deputy Director), and Dr. Shuto Osaki (Research Assistant). The team gave a Seminar on March 3, 2023, at 9:00 – 12:30, in Y409, with the theme “Promoting Wellness with Self-Care through Biodevices”. The team also visited the Laguna Campus of DLSU on March 4, 2023.
Dr. Escaño gives a lecture on Post-DFT Techniques for Terahertz Materials
Dr. Mary Clare Escaño, an Associate Professor from the Research Center for Development of Far-Infrared Region in the University of Fukui, Japan, gave a lecture entitled “Post-DFT Techniques for Terahertz Materials” on December 11, 2019, at 4:15 to 5:45 PM, in Y507.
Prof. Dr. Romeric F. Pobre gives his Professorial Chair Inaugural Lecture
Dr. Pobre, holder of the Br. Henry Virgil Pellant Professorial Chair in Physics and Salvador R. Gonzales Professorial Chair in Physics, gave a lecture entitled “Recent Developments in Wearable System for Ubiquitous Health Application” last October 29, 2019, at 4:00 to 6:00 PM, in Y409.
Optical Society of America (OSA) Ambassador gives a lecture in DLSU
Dr. Amol Choudhary gave a talk on “Integrated Microwave Photonics” and “Adapting to Change: Dealing with Change at Work and at the University” in DLSU. Dr. Choudhary is an Ambassador of the Optical Society of America (OSA). He is also an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, the top-ranked University in India. He gave the lecture on July 9, 2019, 2:00 – 4:00 pm, at Y-408.
Dr. Hui Lin Ong teaches briefly at the DLSU Physics Department
Dr. Hui Lin Ong of the School of Materials Engineering in Kangar, Malaysia once again came to the DLSU Physics Department as a Visiting Professor from March 15 to April 20, 2019.
NTHU Professors visits the DLSU Physics Department on Valentine’s Day
Professor Ite Albert Yu (Chairman), Prof. Shih-Ping Lai (Vice Chair), and Prof. Yi-Wei Liu (Graduate School Coordinator) of the Physics Department of National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan visited the DLSU Physics Department on February 14, 2019. The said Professors presented the research fields of the Physics Department of NTHU and their graduate programs to the DLSU Physics community.
NSYU Professors arrive as Visiting Professors of DLSU Physics Department
Professor Der-Jun Jang of the Ultrafast Spectroscopy Lab and Professor Feng-Chuan Chuang of the Computational Materials Research Lab of the Physics Department in National Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan came as Visiting Professors of the DLSU Physics Department last January 7 to 18, 2019.
Dr. Der-Jun Jang gave a talk on Carrier Dynamics in Semiconductors while Dr. Feng-Chuan Chuang gave a talk on Prediction and Design of Advanced 2D Materials at Y-509 in DLSU on January 17, 2019.
DLSU Physics Department holds a lunch tribute for Bro. Joseph Scheiter
The DLSU Physics Department holds a Lunch Tribute in honor of Brother Joseph Scheiter on August 24, 2018, 11 – 2 pm, at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall Roof deck. Brother Joseph, who has been with the DLSU Manila Physics Department since July 1995, is going back to the US for good.
