Toolkit for Faith-Based Advocacy for the Promotion of ASRH in Asia
The second phase of the UNESCO-funded production of the toolkit for faith-based advocacy for adolescent reproductive health was completed at the end of July 2005. Eight manuals were produced covering Catholicism, Islam, and Buddhism. These manuals were reviewed by religious experts prior to utilization in the field. The Center will be involved in the field-testing of the manuals from June to December 2006 in Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
ASEAN Regional Cooperation for Human Development
Chapter 4 of the Southeast Asian Human Development Report (SEA-HDR) funded and to be published by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was prepared by the Center. The chapter delineated the typologies of regional cooperation in the region as adopted by ASEAN, UNESCAP and other multilateral agencies. Best practices and lessons learned from the experience are incorporated in this chapter.
Capacity-Building Needs Assessment of Street Children in Metro Manila
The project "Capacity Building Needs Assessment for the Incorporation of Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Among Streetchildren in Metro Manila" was completed in September 2005. It was commissioned by the Foundation for Adolescent Development, Inc. (FAD) with financial assistance from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The research findings, covering San Juan, Makati, Mandaluyong and Manila, are now being used to train NGOs involved with street children in counseling and information dissemination for the prevention of sexual and RH problems.
Synthesis and Policy Review of Researches Conducted by the Yuchengco Center
Based on the suggestion of former Philippine President Ramos during the April 2005 Board Meeting, all the publications of the Center from its establishment were reviewed to assess their policy relevance. The publications are divided into three periods covering: (a) Yuchengco Institute of Philippine-Japan Relations (1994-1996); (b) Yuchengco Center for East Asia (1997-2001); and (c) Yuchengco Center (2002-present).
