Nuncio and Maraan Among CLA Recognition Day Honorees

SDRC Director Rhoderick V. Nuncio and Publications Coordinator Connie J. Maraan were among the honorees feted during the DLSU College of Liberal Arts Community Gathering and Recognition Day ceremonies held on December 19, 2012 at the Br. Andrew Building Multipurpose Hall. Dr. Nuncio, who is concurrently Director of the CLA Office of Research and Advanced Studies and is a faculty member of Departamento ng Filipino, was cited for his promotion to the rank of Full Professor.

Dr. Nuncio also served as open forum moderator during the overviews presented on Authentic Assessment by Far Eastern University Consultant for Academic Development Dr. Auxencia Limjap, and on Lasallian Community Engagement Framework by Associate Vice Chancellor for Lasallian Mission Br. Michael Broughton, FSC.

Ms. Maraan was among the national/international awardees cited for winning the Cirilo F. Bautista Prize for Fiction in the 2011 National Book Awards. The award was given for her book Better Homes and Other Fictions: Collected Prose, published by the University of Santo Tomas Publishing House.

Meanwhile, Ms. Maraan's short stories are among those included in Gemino H. Abad's Hoard of Thunder: Philippine Short Stories in English 1990 to 2008 Volume I (1990 to 2000) and Volume II (2001 to 2008). The anthology set has just been published by the University of the Philippines Press.
