The research undertaken in the Sustainable Technologies Group makes use of a highly interdisciplinary approach to providing effective solutions to environmental problems. We make use of the life cycle framework in most of the projects. Some of the main issues addressed in our recent and current work are:
The Sustainable Technology Research Group has laboratory and office facilities equipped with PC’s and software for LCA and related computing applications. These tools include commercially available software, freeware and computer codes developed in-house for our own purposes. The group consists of research staff, including colleagues from institutions with which we have long-standing research collaboration, and research students from the Philippines and overseas.
Postgraduate and Industrial Training in Sustainable Technology.An International Collaboration with University of Portsmouth, Royal Institute of Technology, Universiti Teknoligi Malaysia and Xavier University, Phil. under the Asia-Link Programme. Funded by European Commission. On-going since January 2006
Techno-Economic Evaluation of Bio-Ethanol as an Alternative Transport Fuel. Commissioned by the Department of Energy throught the Sustainable Technology Project. Funded by the USAID. Completed 2005
Development of POLCAGE 1.0: A Transport Fuel Life Cycle Assessment Software Project. Supported by the British Council Philippines and the University of Portsmouth. Completed 2004
Established as "The Philippine LCA Clearing House and Information Center"
