The research program functions primarily as the R&D and Industrial Extension arm of the Department of Energy (DOE). Research and development projects include cross flow and axial flow turbine design, axial flow turbine design, electro-mechanical controllers, fuzzy logic based controllers, and X-Y plotter for Plasma and Oxy-acetylene cutter for more accurate turbine rotor and casing fabrication. The program is also involved in capacity building programs such as the training of fabricators on the production of micro-Hydro system parts and components to hasten the adaptation of the technology.
