Hydro-Power Technology Research

Principal Investigators:

  • Engr. Godofredo C. Salazar, MSc.
  • Dr. Felicito S. Caluyo, Ph.D.

Description:

The research program functions primarily as the R&D and Industrial Extension arm of the Department of Energy (DOE). Research and development projects include cross flow and axial flow turbine design, axial flow turbine design, electro-mechanical controllers, fuzzy logic based controllers, and X-Y plotter for Plasma and Oxy-acetylene cutter for more accurate turbine rotor and casing fabrication. The program is also involved in capacity building programs such as the training of fabricators on the production of micro-Hydro system parts and components to hasten the adaptation of the technology.

Recent Projects Undertaken:

Design, Installation and Commissioning of a 10 KVA Axial Flow Micro-Hydro Power Plant in Malibcong,Abra. Funded by JICA

Design, Installation and Commissioning of a 30 KVA Cross Flow MicroHydro Power Plant in Malicdong,Abra. Funded by the JICA

Development of a Cross Flow Turbine Design Software. Funded by the JICA Development of an Electro-Mechanical Controller for Micro-Hydro Power Systems. Funded by the JICA

Development of an Fuzzy Logic Based Controller for Micro-Hydro Power Systems. Funded by the JICA

Development of a commercial type X-Y plotter for Plasma and oxy-acetylene cutter for more accurate fabrication of cross-flow turbine rotor and casing. Funded by the JICA

Recognition:

Established as the National Center for Micro-Hydro Technology for Rural Electrification

Awards:
