The New and Improved CAO by Angel Ramos

The first term of this school year is the most important term of the year for the Cultural Arts Office (CAO). This term, CAO has experienced the most changes that will affect the performance and operation of the groups under it. These changes range from the renaming of groups to changes in the groups' organizational structure. These changes however, vary in degree and have resulted to different effects on each group.

Restructuring CAO groups

While most groups retained their original names, three CAO groups have been renamed. The two dance groups were merged into what is now the La Salle Dance Company (LSDC). LSDC is divided into two categories, Jazz (formerly La Salle Dance Troupe or LSDT) and Street (formerly BoöTeS). The Student Support Staff (SSS), on the other hand, is now known as the Student Artist Managers (SAM).

In addition to this, two once all-male performing groups, namely LSDC-Street and Innersoul, have both opened their doors to female performers.

The common change that all CAO groups encountered at the beginning of the term is the renaming and restructuring of positions in their organizational charts. According to Ms. Glorife Samodio, CAO director, the change in the names of positions was necessary in order to pattern the groups to the real field of performing arts. Aside from the renaming of positions, the performing groups also had to incorporate into their organizational structures positions like Stage Manager and Technical Director. These two new positions aim to aid the groups in a more successful and hassle-free performance. The support groups Green Media Group (GMG) and SAM, on the other hand, experienced more drastic restructuring. Aside from getting renamed positions, they also had to incorporate additional divisions. The restructuring of the organizational structure and the addition of divisions aim to distribute the workload among members and specify the job descriptions.
