Reserve Officers Training Center Office

De La Salle University was established in 1911 and it's ROTC UNIT in 1936. The DLSU ROTC graduates formed a part of the reservist forces during the Second World War. During the Japanese invasion, many were massacred, including civilian families and 16 Christian Brothers on the 12th of February 1945. Later on, the DLSU ROTC UNIT was formally organized and redesignated on February 1952. The traditional Semestral Academic system was used during the School Year 1981-1982. The Expanded ROTC Program was implemented during the School Year 1995-1996 wherein male students were required to take up 2 years of ROTC. LTSG Jose M Vasquez PN was the first Commandant of the DLSU NROTCU. Later on, the NSTP program was established during the School Year 2002-2003 wherein the students had the choice to join either ROTC or CWTS (in DLSU) and to go through the service for only 2 semesters/ terms. The NSTP program's aim was to enhance civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism while undergoing training in any of its program components.

The Training Staff and Corps of Cadet Officers work together in implementing and maintaining the Program of Instruction (POI) for the cadets. Both parties facilitate the training that enhances the cadets' knowledge in various fields related to the Navy. Activities are also planned from time to time to promote and further enhance unit awareness within and outside the University.

Mission

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Mission

he Armed Forces of the Philippines is the protector of the people and the State. Its goal is to secure the sovereignty of the State and the integrity of National Territory.

Philippine Navy (PN) Mission

To conduct prompt and sustained naval and maritime operations to accomplish the AFP Mission.

 

NAVRESCOM Mission

To organize, equip and administer naval reservists in order to provide the Philippine Navy the base for expansion in the event of war, invasion, rebellion or disaster/calamities and to assist in the socio-economic development of the country.

247TH NROTCU Mission

To train and develop college students in the rudiments of military service and produce capable AFP reservists.
