RE: Influenza A H1N1 Virus Preventive Measures

With the official announcement by the Department of Health that it has already recorded two cases of Influenza A (H1N1) in the country, the academic community is reminded to constantly be on the alert against the possible spread of the virus.

Please be informed that the University has already started addressing this concern, as follows:

• Information dissemination has begun regarding the Influenza A H1N1 virus, its symptoms and characteristics, what individuals can do to lessen chances of infection, the prevention of transmission, and other related topics.
   
• Our maintenance personnel will be regularly disinfecting critical areas and those most handled by persons on campus.
   
• We are now finalizing procedures for action should there be any confirmed case of the H1N1 virus on campus sometime in the near future.

We seek everyone's cooperation and vigilance.

If you begin to experience flu-like symptoms, most especially fever, please seek medical attention and do not come to school until after full recovery.

Any member of the community who develops flu-like symptoms, especially fever, while on campus is advised to immediately proceed to the clinic and consult the doctors. If our doctors urge you to go home or refer you to specialists, please leave the campus immediately. Doing so will help prevent the transmission of virus to the thousands of other Lasallians on campus.
