Lasallians support COSCA bloodletting Students, faculty, and staff of DLSU-Manila trooped to the Yuchengco Ground Floor from August 10 to 11 to take part in the University’s annual “Voluntary Blood Donation Activity.” A total of 197 blood bags were collected during the event. The bloodletting was organized by the Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) in cooperation with the Department of Health and coordinated by the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP). A medical team from the NVBSP conducted the donor examination and bloodletting. COSCA started the program in 2003 and is set to schedule the annual activity twice a year. Blood donations are used by indigent patients of Manila. In recognition of DLSU-Manila’s dedication and support for the voluntary blood donation program, the DOH, NVBSP, and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center-Pediatric Blood Center presented the University with the award “Gawad Mapagbigay.” It was given during award ceremonies held at the Occupational Safety and Health Center last July 14.
