CCS faculty members author Cavite police automation program

College of Computer Studies faculty members Glenn Sipin and Jeffrey Chua were the proponents of the recently launched Cavite Police Province Office (PPO) Web-based Portal. Designed to boost the crime-fighting ability of the Cavite Provincial Office, the designed program electronically links 20 municipalities and three cities of the province.
Recognized as the first of its kind in the history of the Philippine National Police, the program is an automated system for filing/retrieval of records and internet based communication between the Cavite PPO Headquarter and the province’s other municipalities and cities.

The database has five components, namely, personnel (S1), intelligence (S2), operations (S3), logistics (S4), and police-community relations (S5).

The P2 million project is expected to reduce processing time of documents; effectively allow different units to collaborate on cases and catch criminals; improve efficiency and effectiveness in management and internal processing; disseminate and retrieve information from the top down to the lower levels; locate, track and minimize lost equipment; and integrate, coordinate activities, and keep-in-touch with various communities.

The launching ceremony of the Cavite Police computerization program, held late last year, was attended by PNP Chief Director General Edgar Aglipay, Governor Ayong Maliksi, and Cavite Provincial Director Roberto Rosales.
