Faculty join psychology convention The International Council of Psychologists held their 60th Annual Convention at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel on July 1-5. Faculty members from the Counselor Education Department of the College of Education presented papers during the convention. They were: Dr. Rose Marie Clemeña, The Art and Science of Counseling Psychology in the Philippines; Dr. Imelda Villar, Managing Issues among Psychologists Through Neuro-Linguistic Programming Technique; Dr. Natividad Dayan, What is Helpful and Destructive Behavior in Marriage from the Christian Family Movement Point of View, co-authored with Marie Pacis; and CED Dean Dr. Allan Bernardo, Psychological Research in the Philippines: A Review of the Recent Research Contribution to the International Psychology Literature and Identifying New Areas for Intervention for Low Achieving Filipino Students: Achievement Goals, Learning Strategies, and Values for Education. Dr. Loyd Norella of the Psychology Department also presented his paper on Confronting the Symptoms of Sexually Transmitted Diseases: Patterns of Coping and Understanding among Filipino Patients. Dayan, associate professorial lecturer of the Department, was the chair of the local organizing committee. Psychologists from 16 countries attended the event.
