Balabar conducts research abroad Dr. Corazon Balarbar of the Department of English and Applied Linguistics conducted classroom research at the Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., the only university in the world that caters totally to the deaf and hard of hearing. Balarbars research, titled A Descriptive Analysis of the Methods used in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Multi-lingual Deaf Students, was done at the English Language Institute of Gallaudet University. The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program funded her trip. Unite presents paper in APEC meeting Angelo Unite, Full Professor of the Economics Department, presented a paper titled Evidence on the Effects of Financial Liberalization in the Philippines: The Case of Foreign Bank Entry at the International Consortium of APEC Study Centers (ASC) Meeting held in Merida, Mexico on May 22-24. Dr. Michael Sullivan, Associate Professor at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, is the co-author of the said paper. The ASC Meeting brings together the voices from the academic sector of the 21 APEC member economies. The Consortiums importance to the economic leaders of the APEC member economies is reflected in its analytical capabilities and contribution to the consolidation of the current multiple initiatives of the APEC forum. Unite was one of the three delegates of the Philippine APEC Study Center Network.
